I think using clips makes it harder than using buffers. the live api isn't very good at deleting clips. the other design challenge is getting a single midi note to mean two things... might be easier to have record in designated by keypress and another button.

this should be possible to build in m4l, but this will be a long, hard project.

defintely above my current knowledge of max.

so, if you have a year or 2 to spend, go on...
