laptop suggestions?

Greetings, friends. I have a question regarding laptop reliability. I'm looking for a new live performance machine and am staying away from Macbooks this time around.

I'm looking for reliable hardware. What's everyone's thoughts on Sony Vaio, Dell, HP and Asus?

Several friends have Dells, while they brag about them, each has either had RAM and/or GPU fail.

HP - I know nothing about.

Asus - makes great mobos - what about their laptops?

Sony Vaio - slick - heard good things (albeit pricier than the comp).

Any suggestions on reliable hardware? Thanks!
