balancing audio from soundcard

Post by jeeves.207 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 2:11 pm

I'm dealing with some confusion with my interface. I have a Mackie Onyx blackjack 2x2 and am still learning about it's potential.
I'm aware that Line 1 records Left audio and Line 2 records right audio. But how, once I'm done recording, do I balance out the sound file to an LR output instead of one side?

You would normally use one track in ableton, and select 1+2 as external input.

So you shouldn't need to record onto 2 separate mono tracks, but one stereo.

However if you do record to 2 separate tracks, you can of course (stereo) pan track one to the left and track 2 to the right.
I also think there are some tools for joining two monotracks to a stereo-track (although I'm not sure exactly howto).
