Hi,
I'm trying to use Live (8.2.6 OSx) as the master device to sync all of my external MIDI devices. In most cases, I'm not running any external sequencers but am doing a lot with external MIDI devices running arpegators so I need them to all be in sync. In one case, I am also trying to sync with a DrumKAT that will run some MOTIFs (perc loops).
For the most part, I think I have all of the synths syncing up ok. I have the sync set on all of the MIDI out ports (MOTU micro lite 5 port MIDI interface). I'm able to change the tempo from Live and the synths change too.
Two of the issues I'm trying to work out are:
1-is there a way for Live to send the clock/BPM rate when the project opens up, vs. when starting the pattern/song? Right now, it appears that the clock is only sent when the pattern starts.
2-I have a *VERY* strange issue with the DrumKAT. The drummer set up MOTIFs (loops) for click that just trigger an external sound module. He put in a pattern using 1/4 notes at 120BPM. When we set the device to accept external clock, and slave to an external device, the MOTIF plays back at 1/2 tempo. I can't see the internal BPM of the KAT so I'm not sure if it's actually seeing 60BPM coming in or if it's just turning the 120 BPM 1/4 notes into 120BPM 1/2 notes. I've tried this from another device as a master so I'm pretty sure it's the KAT and have called support but still no answer. Wondering if anyone else has seen something like this.
I have read a lot of discussions on this board about MIDI Sync nightmares with Live. Just wondering if anyone has any comments/tricks/tips for doing this.
Thanks for your time and help!
