Slicing Audio Clips

Post by TeeJayEe » Sat Dec 17, 2011 2:45 pm

Hey there,

What is the best way to slice an audio track (break beat) up to save out as audio files (WAV's etc)?

If I'm sampling melodic stuff or something I want to split into equal slices I'll use the 'Slice to new MIDI' and a Drum Rack, but for drums specifically I like to use Battery and obviously Slice to Midi won't work for that.

I can chop the audio in the Arrange Window just fine but the two problems with doing that is A there's no transient detection/warp markers so I have to manually select the regions, and B as far as I can see, I can't 'Preview' my selection to listen back to it (unless I'm missing something, I'm very new to Live).

So, any tips here? Even if there is just a way to preview selections in the arrange window quickly then that would be good.

Thanks

Ah, apparently 'Option>Spacebar' plays back selection. Perfect! Told you I was new to Live!

Still curious to know if there's a way to do this with transients though, so I could quickly select hits between transients/warp markers.
