Possible to have multiple tempos in a set with video?

I'm composing the soundtrack for a short film. I'd like to have it all in one set, but is it possible to have different areas in the set with different tempos without the sounds going out of sync? (So, sort of different subsongs in different parts of the video?)

Can I just automate the master tempo for this? I tried playing around with it a bit, but found it quite dubious that when I automated it in some part, the tempo automation value in the beginning went from 120.0 to 120.68, and I don't know how to reset it precisely to 120 without deleting the whole automation...
