Post by limic » Sat Dec 31, 2011 10:44 am

I can't find the answer.

Shall I simply insert a utility on my kick track and chose the option "mono" ?! I cannot hear any difference !

are you sure the source (sample/synth) isn't mono already? if you're using a sample then there's a good chance it is...

Using the utility like that should definitely eliminate all stereo shenanigans. But if it sounds panned regardless, it's possible that the track itself is not centered. Or you have some return effects applied to the track.

thank you all.

here is the situation. My kick is made with 3 different ones :

1. it's a stereo sample (I can see it) so I put an utility with the mono preset
2. it's a one shot in a drum rack
3. it's a one shot coming out from drumazon (909 emulation plug)

I don't know how to solve it really...

but yeah I must say that if I create a new set and just insert a kick with an utility I can't either hear a difference...

thanks for your help.

If it was bounced as a stereo sample it doesn't mean it was any wider than a mono sample in the first place. Because it is essentially a mono sample therefore you can't hear the difference when you place the utility after it.

Edit: Now rereading what I wrote earlier, I realize the above makes little sense. I just meant, originally it may very well have been a mono kick, even though it was bounced as a stereo, and it doesn't make any difference. (this is getting too complicated for my english skills).
