how to recover asl data from formatted harddrive

ok , so windows thought it would be a funny idea copying only the folder , not the content of my project folder when i did the backup ...
now im on win 7 , but got rid of all my project data ...
has anybody experiences with a file recovery programm that detects asl data good ?
im trying "recover my files" atm , but maybe someone has tried it already and know what works better , maybe ?

you could take it to a pro and let them try. but obviously the idea is to back up your stuff. no matter what happens you'll have those files.
