Extremely slow startup - 5-10 minutes

Hi —

Live always takes 5-10 minutes to start.

This is on a four-month-old Macbook Pro (ssd, 4gb ram, quad i7). Live worked great (& started in about 5 seconds) from September until last week, and now it's unbelievably slow to start. Nothing fancy in the default set, audio is either internal or Apogee Duet.

Ideas?

Do you have any new vst's? Does your root folder that you have assigned for vst's have a lot of directories to scan through? I don't know much about Mac computers so that is about the best I can do for advice :/. Oh, and trying to run it with nothing connected. Then connecting one thing at a time to see if you can spot a potential culprit.

Thanks for the response! I have no new VSTs or plug-ins, and in fact I even disabled VSTs and Audio Units, and still have slow startup. Also I've started up with nothing at all plugged in, as well as with just my Apogee Duet. No luck.

Anyone have other ideas?

I'm having the same problem. I tried to download the driver for my mbox2 mini yesterday, as soon as I did, ableton takes 3-4 minutes to open. I deleted the driver but still have a painfully slow startup time.

I was having this problem started when I installed Novation Nocturn on my pc, solved it thru a reinstall of win7+abe+noavtion's(shitty) drivers...PITA
