Hi, I have Live 8 standard, not the full suite. I have a few drum/perc samples that I need to set up so that the drummer can trigger them from his midi triggers.
So far, I've been able to get the samples in Ableton's simpler sample module but it seems like I would need a separate simpler device for each sample and then set each of those to different midi channels for the drummer to trigger them each separately. Is that correct?
What I would like to do is to import multiple samples and assign them each to a different midi note within a single device. Is this possible with simpler, or any of the other default tools in Live? If not, what would be needed?
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, it's easy, just drag your samples into a drum rack. Then you set the midi notes by dragging the sample to the pad with the corresponding note or using the "i/o" button in the rack, or set the midi notes on the drum kit. They don't need to be on different channels, just different notes. So make sure you find out what the midi notes are on the drum kit.

Perfect! Thanks! I never used the drum rack before. It's a piece of cake.
