recording audio directly into ableton

Post by dienda » Sat Jan 14, 2012 8:47 pm

I want to create my own vocal stabs within Ableton. I can't figure out how to do it.

I've got the BLUE Snowball, and the latest version of ableton.

I know how inferior my mic is but I'm not trying to capture anything pure. Just my voice which I will TOTALLY be working over with effects anyway.

Any takers?

1. In preferences select it as your audio input device. Choose the appropriate input options also.
2. Create an audio channel and choose the appropriate input. If you can't identify it, stare at the little meters while screaming into, or more sanely, tapping on, the mic.
3. Record.

Using that mic may have odd implications for speaker output. I don't know haha. Worst case scenario, you'll have to switch audio settings back and forth.

Oh, Mac or PC?

PC. I'm stuck at work now but I will try that out in the AM. Sounds like it would work. Thanks, and I'll let you know if that solved it.

It took me awile to get to this but it worked perfectly. Unfortunately I do have to switch back between sound preferences though...

but it works.
