Distortion Chain Causing Delay?

I'm using ableton live and have started messing around with a return track that consists of a chain of distortions/bit crushers. I've noticed that when I set the send to above 25% it seems to play the clean signal followed by a very short delayed and distorted signal..the second being obviously what I'm after. Any ideas what could be causing this? My CPU isn't spiking and I'm at a loss.

Your CPU doesn't need to be spiking to experience latency. Might be latency.
