My first track

Post by McMeart » Mon Jan 16, 2012 5:47 pm

This is my first track after 10 hours of learning, a few drum tracks and a track that sounds like it came from super Mario bros.

It took me 4 hours to make this track, and I would appreciate it if someone could help me become better with constructive criticism. Obviously I know this track is not perfect. Let me reiterate, this is my first track.

Great start!

I would add some bass, sub bass to the track as it will def livin things up. Don't be afraid to stretch out the track so its got a progressive touch to it if that's what you're going for too.

Thank you Atogg for replying. Thats exactly why I posted this, what is bass and sub bass? In the track I have a bass(guitar?) synth and some other white noise bass. But are you talking about the bass that makes speakers hit hard? I do not have any speakers in my room atm, so all I have to go off of is my laptop and some headphones.

Is there any link, website, or article i could read from that you would know of?

thanks

The lyrics, sung by Brian Johnson, explain how the narrator will attack and drag a victim to hell, comparing his actions with natural phenomena such as rain, thunder and hurricanes. The song was written to commemorate the death of AC/DC's former lead singer, Bon Scott.

Not bad for a first effort :)

Check out automation on the filters of your synth to vary the sound as it goes through the track. Bass is normally considered 100-250hz, whereas sub bass is anything below 100hz. It's always good to layer the bass a bit, have some sub, some 'normal' and some higher frequency in the bassline, that way you'll still hear the bassline whether on the best speakers or earbuds!
