coarse tempo wont move in whole units when mapped to midi

Post by bad_mojo9 » Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:13 am

Can anyone tell me if its normal what when i have a midi knob on my mpd 32 mapped to the coarse tempo it moves up in decimal amounts, not whole numbers...

its really crap cos u cant get it to be exactly 85 bmp... it ends up on like 85.19 or something.

anyone know of a way around this?

Cheers

Set the minimum and maximum values. It usually helps if it is a range of 128 (because thee are 128 incremental steps on your knob or fader. Live just divides the total range by the number of positions available. Anything not within a 128 range will result in decimals). Or maybe 64. 32 etc. after a few attempts, it should work out :)

I use coarse and fine controls on a MIDI controller for this very reason.

Personally, I don't think MIDI CC is that good of a tempo control due to the resolution.

that solved it. Im running a range of 60 to 123.5 and now I get 0.5 Increments
