February Album Writing Month (FAWM.org)

Hey All,

This is my yearly plug for one of my favorite production tools, fawm.org. FAWM = February Album Writing Month - it's a site where people from all over the world (literally) get together online to try to write 14 songs in 28 days.

I've posted this twice before, and as far as I know, only two forum members have taken me up on it. One had some success, while the other is now back for his third year (this is my fourth).

I've had people respond to this saying it can't be done, or it can't be done well, but what's the worst thing that could happen? You spend time writing music, posting it, meeting like-minded people and getting feedback?

Anyway, I'll just say that before I joined FAWM I'd been writing music for 8-9 years, and I'd finished maybe a dozen songs. I've finished about 45 between the three years I've done FAWM. Some are better than others, but I never would have finished any of them without that site and that community.

I I wouldn't have a day job, a family, two musical projects with gigs in february ... After new years I was alone at home for two weeks and made a folder called "one song each day", willing to work a new track each day. I did make 2 songs in 10 days. Well, that's something at least ...

I signed up this year after making excuses the last couple of years. Gonna see if I can do something with the 15 patterns in the Monthly Acid pattern archive.

All right! I'm encouraged to see that a few Live users have signed up.

FWIW, this site has a small but growing list of electronic music producers. A lot of users on the site are more girl+guitar / guy+guitar... lots of talent no matter what the users use, but I'm always hoping to get more diversity on there...
