VST, and input routing on my setup

I'm running a roland synth through a usb to my computer, and then also an apogee duet 2 usb interface for mics and audio instruments and monitors.

Is there a way to use multiple inputs on live? what I'm trying to do is record vocals through a mic on the apogee while at the same time having my midi tracks run to the fantom G via external instrument plugins. The problem is I am only able to set one or the other as the input at a time. my apogee does not currently have a midi-in otherwise I could route the fantom there.



So the way I see it is I have a few options
1. export record all my midi tracks to audio and then record vocals so I don't need the fantom. then go back and delete all the audio tracks after I'm done (I want to keep it in midi format for awhile longer). but I guess if I'm at the point where the last thing to add is vocals I could just leave them all as audio tracks.

2. cut the whole thing to master .wav track and use that as backing while I do vocals. Con is it might be hard to line up

3. Run vocals through the fantom (but I was under the impression the apogee duet would give me better quality). or upload all all of the synths VSTS to ableton and my computer (I would like to avoid this one as because the files will be very large)

4.Figure out if the duet 2 can run midi (so far everything I've found says no)
5. Figure out if it's possible to have multiple inputs on a project?

The last one seems best because at some point I
I'm going to want to try and run both if it's possible.

You can run A LOT of stuff simultaneously into Live, however your soundcard has to support multiple inputs.

I take it my macbook's sound card probably doesn't allow for that then?

At this point in time I've been bumping the master track to .wav. then taking it in a different project and recording vocals. then moving those back over. It's not really that big of a deal, but I was just thinking there might be a way to make it easer.

One more question regarding the roland fantom,

I've composed a couple songs on the synth (it has it's own form of a DAW), and I would like to be able to just hit play and have all the midi files and there individual tracks go straight into an ableton project while it's recording.

When I've done this before, I can usually get them all onto a single midi track in ableton, but then don't really know how to separate them out individually because it's consolidated all the separate track on the roland daw onto one ableton midi track. any ideas on that would also help out.
