hi- i think this should be an easy question, but i'm pretty new to ableton, so...
I have problems with launching an individual clip- instead the entire scene is launching. I'm not pressing the scene launch button, fwiw. I'm pressing a clip slot's play button but, I guess that b/c Live is highlighting the entire scene, then all clips in that scene (if their tracks are activated) are also getting launched. I was able to work around this by changing the default launching preference (in preferences) to not select the clip when pressing play, but I think this is overkill. I don't understand why the default behavior for a clip-slot launch would be launching the entire scene. Am I doing something wrong or is there some value in defaulting to scene-launch when launching a clip. Just trying to make sense of it. Feel free to assume i'm clueless. =)]
btw, a related thread I found useful: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... ches+scene
Thanks!
scene launching vs clip launching issue
Re: scene launching vs clip launching issue
1. Do you have anything set up in arrangement view? That complicates it even more.
2. When I want to launch a clip instead of an entire scene, I make sure to hit "stop all" on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. Then I can launch a clip and start building a scene while live.
I know it's an extra step, but if you find a way to change the default from playing the entire scene, let me know.

maybe the clips are just "ready to play"? The play triangle is green, isn't it ? Is is when you start a song ? If so, press the stop buttons of the tracks and resave your set.
This is assuming what i suppose is right, and that you are new to live. Maybe i just don't get the problem.

Re: scene launching vs clip launching issue
ha! I think you have it. I was mostly using the space bar to bring my clips to a stop, rather than stopping the particular clips/tracks. This appears to leave them green, in some 'ready to play' state. when i stop using the spacebar, this seems to make the clip launching behave as expected. i'll have to read up in the manual, why this is...
thanks!! =)
