HELP - Is it possible to midi map Akai APC-40 with Mac OSX?

I'm using Ableton with Mac OSX Snow Leopard, but whenever I click the midi button to assign controls it doesn't work?

Anyone know how to solve this?

Set it up as a midi controller in your preferences as well as a control surface, you'll want remote on for both input and output...

I'm now having issues setting up the inputs and outputs... It displays 0 in 2 out with the input config greyed out?

Ummm you'll need to turn track on if you want to use it to play notes, thats not midi mapping it though....

Dare i say it but you should look to the manual on Midi i/o and controllers before you go ay further....

I've spend the past 2 hours reading through the manual and guide, plus researching on the net for solutions but nothing seems to help. I now have 2in/0out and 0in/2out, with all necessary hardware connected but im still not getting any sound? All other applications outside Ableton play sound as normal.

The APC 40 isn't a soundcard?

Really what are you trying to do?

A midi track wont make a sound without an instrument or drum rack on it...

Your first question was how to midi map with the APC40, that is totally unrelated to the i/o with each track... CMD M enters midi map mode...

I have added various effects and drum beats, however when I press the corresponding control buttons I don't seem to be able to get any audio out of my mac. Sorry for the change in subject, I thought i'd post here as you seem to know what you're talking about.

You'd need to go into the audio settings of Live, theres seperate sections for input and output, if you don't have a soundcard attached you'll need to set the outputs to the internal soundcard...

Then each track should generally be set to MAster, then the MAster settings can be set to 1/2....

I've tried playing around with different audio settings for my usb soundcard and updated the drivers but still no audio. It plays fine off itunes or any other audio, just not through Ableton...
