how to combine tracks?

Post by alex1fly » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:12 am

Say I have two tracks that I want to combine into one track, like if I'm thickening a sound or a chord. What's the easiest way to combine two tracks into one?

maybe I'm not being very clear......

so, I wish you could "Group" tracks and then "Flatten" them, combining the group into a single track.

Are you talking about audio tracks? You can bounce them to a new track.

^ either record into another track in real-time, or render and drag to a new audio track

but you won't really get any benefits over just grouping tracks - why do you want to merge them?

Two options. If you're wanting to combine MIDI tracks I'd recommend using a instrument rack and then dragging both instruments into it. You can process the audio from each instrument individually within instrument rack, or the audio of both together outside of instrument rack.

If you're wanting to process two audio tracks in one spot you'll want to route them both to a new audio track. Insert a new audio track. Click on the little I/O on the lower right in session view. On the send box for your two tracks, send them both to the new audio track. Then on the new audio track click on 'In'. You can now process the audio from both tracks in the new one.

If you'd like, you ran record the two tracks together into the new audio track.
