I am using Rebirth as a rewire client to Live and it works great, BUT unless I plug in an outboard synth and external MIDI port to my computer I can not route MIDI from Live to Rebirth's MIDI note mappings. I am trying to switch Rebirth drum and bass patterns from within a MIDI clip running in Live.
Switching to pver Rebirth and doing it manually os NOT an option.
So, if there is no external MIDI ports installed, Rebirth thinks there is NO midi installed. It will not recognize Maple soft ports either.
As a workaround,, I install my M-audio 1X1 and send MIDI out to any synth with MIDI through and route that back to the PC's MIDI in port and then Rebirth can see the Notes, but this means I have to drag along my outboard ports and synth,
Does anybody know a way to make it work without the extra gear??
thanks in advance for any help

I am using WinXP SP2 with a M-audio Uno or Quattro MIDI interface depending on if I am using outboard synths
again with no interface attached, Rebirth says No MIDI attached when it boots up and Live can only see the audio output, the Live MIDI outs show Maple ports available but Rebirth doesn't know they are there
thanks
