Win 7/64.
Never fails. I know this is a 32 bit program but all be damned if this thing doesn't crash itself when mem usage approaches +/-3.6GB.
The other thing is I can open a project and it will literally triple the memory usage if left running overnight. Never seen this before. Is that the definition of a "memory leak"?
My system: i7 2600k, 32GB RAM

1. Everyone's does... even on OSX.
2. Maybe, I've had some 3rd party plugs that kind of reload themselves and not release the memory.

One question regarding the cracshes. Does your computer bluescreen or anything?
And just to rule it all out, have you tried running MemTest86+ ( http://www.memtest.org/ ) to ensure that all of your memory is functional.

Theres nothing wrong with your computer. This is simply the limitarion of a 32 bits DAW.
Re: Ableton 8.2.7 Crashes Right at 3.6GB of Memory Use
it might be worth investigating jBridge to overcome your memory difficulties

...aims to make it possible to run 32bit plugins in 64bit hosts, 64bit plugins in 32bit hosts, or even bridging 32bit plugins to 32bit hosts, allowing to overcome the memory limitations of a single 32bit process, in this last case.
