Rewire error message when opening live

Im trying to rewire reason as a slave to live, and I keep getting this message when I open live. "An error has occured while opening "reason" via rewire. It is probably already in use. In order to run this program as a rewire slave application, you will have to launch live first.

reason isnt open yet!

I haven't even started doing the routing within live, because on the propellerhead website the instructions say to open live then open reason, and i cant even get past that step..

whats going on!
