Waves users...which do you use?
(searched the forums, maybe the search function sucks, maybe not much has been said about it...)
the waves plugins...
wondering what people like to use on their mastering chains and why?...so many different ones its hard to know where to start
actually better than the native Live mastering tools?
bass guitar processing...vocals, etc...anything you want to say about waves is on-topic

In my opinion the puigchild and puigtec EQP1A are both NICE piece of plugins.
They bring some good air and pump to my tracks.
I don't really use waves plugins on master bus though...

Of Waves plugins I use the Kramer MPX Master Tape and L2. But I don't really push either of the plugins that much. I like how the master tape gives some "warmth" to the mix. The L2 I use only to slightly boost up the volume ('cause I think it's introducing some distortion otherwise).

I don't use any Waves on my Master either, generally I leave the Master empty or only some real light plug in use.
Waves has some great plug ins though. I love the SSl 4000 Series pack, and of those plugs the G Master Buss Compressor is my favorite, intially I found the one I liked the least, but once you figure out how to use its amazing.
I recently got the silver Pack, big fan of the TruVerb. Doubler can give some real cool effects when pushed. The EQs in it aren't bad (better on non- drum tracks than their SSL EQ in my opinion).

I like the sounds I get just using it on sends so each "sound group" can have a bit different tweaking, but I haven't released an ace record yet. I might as well try messing around with it on the Master this afternoon after saying that.simmerdown wrote:so G Master Buss comp does not go on the master? just wondering...

Re: Waves users...which do you use?
I own a bunch of Waves plugins - Silver Bundle, SSL Bundle, the Riders and the Maserati Bundle.
I like Waves a lot. For vocals I always find a good sound with the Maserati Vocal plug (but equally often with the Toontrack EZmix). The only thing I'm really using from the Silver Bundle is the Maxx Bass which I only use when it's time for freeing up energy in the lower end. Brilliant plug actually. But if I should choose just one plug - then it's the Vocal Rider - which is absolutely wonderful. The SSL stuff - well, I dunno. I haven't even opened them yet

Good Ole C1 compressor is underrated, Ren Eq sweet "radio ready" sounding eq, Ren Vox good for anything really really has a nice character. ah for goodness sake, everything in Waves period...are the best plugins, next to UAD of course

Re: Waves users...which do you use?
It's a technique used mostly in the old days (when everything was bigger, better, less expensive and when politicians were honest), where you would change the volume of the channel by "riding" the volume fader. So it is kind of a manual compressor. The bass (and vocal) rider plugin does it for you.simmerdown wrote:yeh maxxbass im finding awesome...i see theres a BassRider as well..

Re: Waves users...which do you use?
all waves plugins I've ever used were superb..
some of them are second to none..
and now no ilok.. it's great !
I would say they make the finest plugins..
(although UAD makes very fine stuff..
they do require hardware to be bought...
and are quite a bit more expensive..)
that's basically it...
