some of the media files such as samples could not be loaded

Post by Fresno Bob » Sun Apr 22, 2012 1:36 pm

I've been having a lot of problems with Ableton so I reinstalled my OS. I've copied the folder to the same place where I always keep my sets and samples etc but when I open the set I get a "some of the media files such as samples could not be loaded". Some of the files get loaded in the set and the files are there in the right path when I browse to them externally it's just the sample is offline. How do I fix this?

Could you explain in more detail. If I right click on the offline sample it shows it in the browser and right clicking there shows me the file in windows explorer. So the files path is correct and the file is there and will play in media player. Could it be a permissions issue something to do with how I copied the files.

There's lots of detail in the manual.. Section 5.8, page 64

I had reinstalled the OS but I copied the files from the windows.old folder that gets created when you reinstall. I recopied them from my hard drive and I started getting not licenced errors on the files. Then I installed quicktime and bingo it worked. Weird. I know it uses QT for the video editing but I wouldn't have thought it would have had a knock effect like that.
