In theory this should make sense. I've assigned clips to each pad on my Akai MPD 24 in Ableton (40 pads total), but in a separate track I've got a synth (using a Novation X-Station as a controller) coming from Reason into Ableton Live.
When I hit a note on my Novation it triggers one of the clips designated to my MPD. It seems as the MPD is actually specifying notes to each pad instead of a "Pad A 1, 2, 3, 4, Pad B 1, 2, 3, 4."
I've been an MPC player for over a decade and have used Ableton Live as a tracking program for half that.
Can I use my Novation keyboard via USB to control Reason (in Ableton) in one track while using my Akai MPD 24 to just trigger clips in four other tracks without each controller interfering?
Sorry if this is a redunant question. I've looked all over the board before posing it, but haven't found anyone else having this dilemma. Much thanks if you can fill me in!

Re: Using two separate controllers in Ableton with Reason
Hi,
This should be possible. We'd need to take a closer look at your MIDI Sync preferences and the configuration of your tracks within Live.
If you would like us to help with this please contact Novation technical support using the contact form below:
