Komplete Audio 6 into a DJM 700
Komplete Audio 6 into a DJM 700
Hi there, I have a gig quite soon and decided that I would only use ableton - usually I use cdjs. Anyway, I am using the NI audio komplete 6 to cue my tracks, i'm just wondering how I would put that into a mixer.
The mixer that will be used is a DJM 700, here is the inputs/outputs http://www.djresource.eu/images/topics/ ... 0_rear.jpg
I usually use my interface and ableton to mix at home into my kvr monitors but I use XLR cables. I have 2 1/4 jacks to rca cables that I guess I will have to use. But I'm getting a bit confused. If I stick both of my leads into the left and right channels of my 1/2 output on the interface where do I connect the two red and white phono cables into the mixer?
I'll only be using 1 deck on the djm, so where do I put my red and white cable into it?
Do I put one in the line, and the other in the CD? If that's the case then it means my left channel is getting split up into L and R and my right channel is getting split into L and R
I'm very confused, can anyone help?

Here is a badly photoshopped image of what I mean.
The left (black thin) and the right (dark green thick) cables both get seperated into L and R when they go into the mixer.
Is this supposed to happen or have I done something wrong?

No
Just left and right to Line.
You need something to go from jack to rca.

So I would just need one jack going from my left channel as a mono output, and then the rca would split to the left and right line channels on the mixer?

Not quite, because then you only get a mono signal (left channel) from your audio interface into your mixer.rubert wrote:

Like Carpet Cleaner said, you need something from Jack to RCA. (from LEFT OUT to LEFT IN. Same goes for the right channel)
1) If you have two audio cables which both split from one 1/4 jack into two RCA's (Left and Right), you can set it up like this:
Code: Select all
[Interface Audio Out 1 - LEFT]: 1/4 jack <-----> white RCA :[Mixer CH-1 Line Left]
[Interface Audio Out 2 - RIGHT]: 1/4 jack <-----> red RCA :[Mixer CH-1 Line Right]
2) Or you get an audio cable that has two 1/4 jacks and 2 RCAs:
Code: Select all
[Interface Out 1]: 1/4 JACK LEFT ------- ------- RCA Left :[Mixer Line Left]
|--------|
[Interface Out 2]: 1/4 JACK RIGHT ------ ------- RCA Right :[Mixer Line Right]

Thank you very much. Worked a treat and took a load of worrying off of my back cheers
Re: Komplete Audio 6 into a DJM 700
Thanks for the info. My songs sounded muddy when I first started, I soon aided this by reducing the bass and adding treble and mid on the mixer. Apparently it sounded so bad because I was supposed to go into CD and not LINE because the line has a preamp for vinyl. I'm not sure if the guy who told me this was right (he was rather arrogant and undermining, actually) because everyone else's mixes sounded FAR too bassy, without any noticable mids. The Carpet Cleaner wrote:No

Clarification would be nice, i guess I'll find out another time, but I really appreciate your help so thanks
