I'm thinking about getting the akai eie or eie pro for live concerts. I know there are more appropriate audio interfaces, but this is perfect for what I need.
I am wondering if the latency would be any bigger on the 24-bit resolution pro model, compared the the 16-bit resolution of the normal model. And will the latency be affected badly by using the USB expansion ports on the back of the device (with, for example, a midi keyboard or another audio device).
Help is appreciated.

Re: AKAI EIE or EIE PRO for live concerts
as far as i know the latency is not affected by the bit depth.
But buy with caution, the unit has problems on some systems. I have one PC where it works perfectly and another where it is completely unusable.

I have a friend with an EIE Pro and he's returning it -- he says it's just too quiet (output). That was hard for me to imagine, but he did everything we could think of to boost the signal and it just wasn't happening. A caution I thought I should pass on if you're planning on using it for gigging. That said, I have not used one myself.
