running apc20 on redundant computer via midi

Post by egadelman » Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:00 am

Hello.
So my rig is two mac minis and the apc20 that I use as an audio playback machine for TV. Until today in order to back up the primary computer I have used screen share to quickly move between the desktops and load my music into the adjacent ableton live via ethernet. However I was recently told that I could do this through midi, using ethernet, and not only have it back up onto the slave automatically but have it play along side the master. Obviously this is all just to make the switch from computer to the other easier in case of a crash during a live show. The more info the better right?

Anyway
I have my midi network set up right, I think, The midi clock is sinced but the problem I am having is that when I fire a clip on the apc20 it will only play on the master. The midi clock starts on both and is synchronized but the clip on the slave won't play.

Hopefully that is enough info. Can anybody help?
