Hi there!
I'm using a drumrack with 64 different drumsamples,
"hardwired" to the 64 pads of the launchpad in usermode 1.
(so i dont have to switch drumsets during an entire set)
For a visualisation, i need to forward the notes i use
in that drumrack to a programm, wich only reads 5 notes:
Kick, Snare, hihat, Crash and Ride.
What i need now, is a way to map every kicksample's note
on my drumrack to one single note on the miditack, that reads
the drumnotes, and sends them to the other computer, wich is
making the visualisation.
So basically, i need to make a midi effect, that maps - lets say 10
different midi notes (of choice) to a single one(of choice),
10 other notes to another single note etc.
in the end i should be able to route the 64 notes i'm using for drums
freely to those 5 notes, that the visualisation is reading...
how am i gonna do this?
as always, every piece of advice is highly appreciated!
Thanks!
Map several midi note pitches freely to other pitches?
Re: Map several midi note pitches freely to other pitches?
Sounds like you want to play with the MIDI scale effect. Send if you set up another MIDI track with monitor mode set to in and choose your original drum track as your input. Then the unfortunate part is you'll need to manually make another scale effect for every note to transpose it to another one. You can limit the range of the scale effect so the move will only affect a single note and also transpose the output if need be. It will be a decent bit of trial and error unfortunately. If you make one instance of each first at least, all you'd need to do is duplicate them and probably just change the incoming note rather than re-create every other setting. Finally send the midi out of that channel to where you need it to go for your visual effects (IAC drivers potentially but that depends on how you're running it).
(Edit: actually you may be able to have one scale effect move a few notes at a time depending on how you need to push transposition and the like, like I said trial and error but the MIDI scale effect is what you want).

Re: Map several midi note pitches freely to other pitches?
what a pitty! making an instance for every sngle one of the 64 notes
was actually, what i wanted to avoid!
First i tried the midi pitch effect, but that way i would need
64 different dummy channels to send the drumnotes to the visualisation.
a rack filled with 64 different midi scale effects works on a single channel,
but is still a lot of work!
does that use the cpu a lot?
Cheers!
