Problem getting VST plug-ins to work in Live

I am having problems getting the default VST plug-ins that came with my Cubase SL (1.0.5.58) to work in Live (1.5.2). I am working with a PC in Windows XP.

I have set the path directory correctly (ie c:\program files\steinberg\cubase sl\vstplugins\) so that it picks them up in the file browser, however when I try to load one of these up, I get the following error message:
"Error: Sorry this plugin xxxx doesn't work with this host"

It then loads the plug-in into the bottom preview screen, but then all audio from the clip you're trying to effect cuts out. When you delete the plug-in, the clip audio returns.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and what I can do to get VST plug-ins to work normally?

I've subsequently found out this is because the native Cubase SL plug-ins do not support 3rd party hosts such as Live.

That's why!
