Question on Cubase default VST plug-ins...and Live

Further to my previous post relating to problems I am having getting the default plug-ins in Cubase SL (ie stepfilter, metalizer, ringmodulator, bitcrusher, chopper etc) to work in Live, I have been told by someone on another forum that these plug-ins are native to Cubase only, and don't work with 3rd party hosts such as Live.

Please could somebody confirm whether this is true or not?

Got my question kindly answered by Christian (tech support) so thought I may as well post it here in case others come across this.

Yes, its true that native Cubase plug-ins do not work in 3rd party hosts such as Live.

So much for VST being an open standard then, eh?

Another reason for Ableton to support open formats e.g. AudioUnit.
