Monitoring audio input while clip is playing?

Post by adamdegraff » Thu Sep 20, 2012 3:01 am

Regarding monitoring: before I record a clip, I hear my audio in. (When set to "In" or "Auto") Then, when I record a clip, I hear my audio. Then when I play the clip, I hear the recorded audio, but I don't hear my live audio signal anymore. Is there a way to hear my playing over the top of the clip I just recorded and am playing back? Still new to Ableton. Probably a simple answer to this question that I'm overlooking.

Thanks!

Yes. Set input channel 1 to "In". Make second channel 2 set as "Off". Off (2) will only playback clips. If you set the Input of Off (2) to be from the other channel (1), and Arm the channel (2) for record, you can record audio in it. You can duplicate that channel (2) several times if you want layered looping. It is very fun :D (do all fx etc on the In channel [1]).
