Crackling driving me crackers in Ableton!

Post by Gothboy » Thu Sep 20, 2012 6:14 pm

Having an awful time with background crackling noise in Live lately....seemed to start around when 8.3.4 came out. Happens in every session no matter what I do in the prefs. and it's related to the Avid Core Audio Manager which I use because I have a Digi 002R interface....when I switch to the Mac internal line out there is no crackling it's there even when I turn the test tone on. Has anyone seen this issue I could sure use some help.
Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz. 16 GB RAM
Mountain Lion 10.8.5/El Capitan 10.11.6
Live Suite 9.1.7 and 10.1.9

I have a similar issue on my mac, I don't think it is actually related to the avid core audio manager. I say this because I first had this problem with my Mbox mini, but I have now switched to a different computer and a different interface and still have this problem (and I specifically didn't install any avid/digidesign software or drivers on this computer). My crackling usually starts when more than one application is trying to use the audio at the same time. I found that If I unplug the interface from the USB cable (so that the computer reverts back to the line out) and then replug the interface back in, this seems to "reset" everything and the crackling goes away. (you do have to reassign the audio in and out in live's preferences however.)
Don't know if this will help, but yes it is incredibly annoying- and Live does seem to be the only thing that has been consistent across computers and interfaces (in my setup at least).
