How to sustain a sample

Hi guys new to this forum, I have a great sounding sample I want to use, however I want to use this as a continuos syth sustaining over 5 or 6 bars even longer if possible. Basically Iwant to sustain the syth for a longer period than the sample actually is. I tried to loop the end of the sample in the sampler but does not sound natural. Doe any of you guys know a good way to sustain a sample, to make a continuos sound.

Some sounds just will never sound good/natural looped.

If they don't have a clean release phase or it's not just pure looping (drums) it won't work

Pianos and strings are the things that work ok I think.

Anyway, if you put your sample here maybe one of the boffins will be able to do it for you..

If you loop a middle section it will sometimes turn out OK. You should make sure the loop points are at zero crossings at the same point in the wave's cycle and at pretty much the same amplitude or it will pop or click each loop. There is a snap function in the sampler which can help with this. Putting fades on in the sampler also helps sometimes.

If none of that works, the man is right, there are some sounds which just don't loop right!

did you make the synth sample your self? if so rerecord it looping it yourself. If not, try duplicating the clip as many times as you need, and then consolidating those clips in arrangement view. This may work depending on the endpoints of the loop. a little endpoint trimming may be needed.
