Mac alternatives to Bootsy/Variety Of Sound Plugins

Post by Rotter3 » Thu Oct 18, 2012 12:01 pm

For various reasons I recently deserted many years of PC useage and bought a Macbook Pro.

I'm running Ableton 8 in the form of the latest 64bit beta (working nicely).

As a result I'm looking for 64bit Mac alternatives to the wonderful Bootsy plugins I've come to rely on.

I've been a massive user of;-

Ferric
Nasty VCS
Thrillseeker LA
Density
Tesla Pro
Rescue AE
Boot EQ
and
epicVerb
Nasty DLA (Fabfilter Timeless 2 almost covering this)

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Sonimus SonEQ is an excellent EQ and free, the latest Computer Music Magazine has a Version of an EQ by eaReckon, there's a good free Compressor by Klanghelm...and so on. Don't worry, there is a lot more good freeware stuff than you can ever use...make a search at KVR.

I should clarify - it's not an issue of it having to be freeware, it's about the sound. The VOS plugs have an innate ability to make working in the box sound incredibly "analogue".

Thanks for your help guys

I'm figuring between Softube, Slate Digital and Sound Toys I'm going to be able to come somewhere close.

All three Software House's produce very good plugins!

I personally recommend Slate for the sound, they worth the money (that i don't have) 8)
