Arm exclusive does not work w/MIDI control
Arm exclusive does not work w/MIDI control
I just set up my Behringer FCB1010. I have a select/arm preset for track 1, and one for track 2. I hit the preset for track 1, and track 1 selects and arms. Brilliant. Unfortunately when I hit the preset for track 2, track 1 remains armed!
The arm exclusive feature does not seem to apply when MIDI remote control is used. Am I missing something? Please help me to understand.
On a more general note, it would be nice to have a feature that makes MIDI remote control behave more like keyboard commands. I hope it's possible because it would make programming so much easier.
My toes are sore!
Thanks.

I've got exactly the same issue.
Even if I go the path of midi->multiple keytrokes I still don't see how to get around this, unless this is not a probem with keystroke mappings for control?
Basically I don't want to have to disarm other tracks when arming a new track, that's a bit too much riverdance for me when playing the guitar for live looping.

Are you using 5.2.2? I tried with it, and exclusive works using my MIDI controller. Are you buttons set to toggle ON or OFF? They should be OFF. Also, have you tried both MIDI CC and MIDI notes?samplehead wrote:@amaury: fcb1010, Live 5, yes - exclusive arm is set on.

I just discovered this same issue, programming a controller setup for a client
- Live 6/07
- OSX10
- Jazzmutant LEMUR
Preferences: arm set to exclusive; cue/solo non-exclusive
I created custom buttons on the LEMUR for controlling 4 MIDI channel arm switches.
The buttons are mapped to CC's which in turn map to the channels in Live. There is nothing special about the button parameters .. they are simple controls
In order to get the buttons to work at all - I need to set the Mode in Live for the Arm parameters to Relative Signed Bit.
This also has the benefit of syncing up the visual buttons on screen with the state of the button in LEMUR.
However the buttons now allow me to turn more than one Arm button on at once. They behave non-exclusive
Turning the buttons on / off with the mouse act as you would expect -- they are exclusive
As this is for a touring stage rig we would rather not have to place another layer of abstraction (MIDI translator --> keystroke) into this setup in order to workaround this bug ... simpler the better imo, my client agrees.
Can you guys reproduce this with what we are giving here, or is there anything else we can do to help you track it down?
Just ask, glad to help .. thanks A.

Based on your report, we're investigationg something about CC messages in Toggle mode, that seem not to interact correctly with Live. As for now, you should either use CC in non-toggle mode, or program the Lemur to use MIDI notes instead. It should work as expected.

Great! Thanks so much ..
So far the only way to get the desired behavior (Button state on Lemur synced visually with button state on Live interface) is with Linear Signed Bit
Or perhaps Mackie Control. However -- Mackie Control crashes Live on my PC system -- have not investigated this in detail or reported as of yet but this makes us nervous to use it on this touring rig on his OSX setup (understandably)
Hopefully you will be able to fix this in time for 6.08 update? (fingers crossed).
Will be glad help test this if you let us know that there is a potential fix in ... I will download it and test it myself. Thanks again!

Exclusive arm track doesn't work
I work for months on live 6.0.1 and I didn't have any problem with exclusive rec arm fonction. I was working with M-Audio Oxygen Kboard assigned to arm buttons. Lately I got a Novation remoteZero SL and since, the problem appeared. If I do it with the mouse the excusivity works but with my new controller, I have to deactivate the armed track to arm another, ifnot both will be armed...I tried with notes and cc's (non toggle mode) and the problem remains. I then tought that it was my Novation controller but I came back to my Oxygen and the problem was there!!! Bizarre 'cause I used it for months without any shit and now the problem just pop up from nowhere...
I'm on OSX 10.4.9, MacBook Pro, fireface400
Any tips?

Re: Arm exclusive does not work w/MIDI control
Still not working... three years later in v8.2.1. I initially suspected it only happens on Windows installations but seems to be Mac too.

Re: Arm exclusive does not work w/MIDI control
Some of the previous posts where OSX machines too so it doesn't look like a Windows specific issue.
