Samplr - is this going to make me buy an ipad?
http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2012/ ... -for-ipad/
oh my godness. this looks so pretty. if this would have come out as a hardware-instrument a couple of years ago, people would have bought it for thousands of dollars, probably. now it's a simple ipad-app. for 4.99 $.
can't believe it.

It's not too much of a stretch to look for midi in version 2 I reckon
Re: Samplr - is this going to make me buy an ipad?
How do they do that for 4.99 ??
If I had the cash I would go out this instant and buy an ipad just to run that.
4.99 is a crazy price - how's a programmer supposed to make a living at that rate?

Very cool. Seems a fair bit like SampleWiz, although with some extra functionality. I'd love to see a controller like this for a VST sampler (or Live's sampler). With allthese talented ipad developers out there, why doesn't Ableton hire one to do some cool ipad interfaces for their stuff? Think of this thing controlling an Ableton sampler device. That would be great. All movement recorded as automation...

Marcos is also a developer for reactable and whatnot, so I guess he's fine.

Yeh, it's simple economics, the guys who sold angry birds for a dollar are millionaires....it's impulse buy software on an ipad, just press a button to buy....also people actually buy the software rather than pirate it....
There were already dozens of apps worth buying an ipad for if you are a music tech head- tenori on, electribe, polymoog, lemur, touchOSC and of course it's great for watching tuition videos, PDF manuals etc etc.
I bought this app on release and to me it is more useful, imidiate, musical and fun than izotope iris (which I also own) and that cost £100...
As soon as we have audiobus the ipad is a serious music production platform....I have the ipad 3 and it has some serious processing power... As has been said before, it could easily run Reason.....it's only a matter of time...

Chances are, they'll sell upwards of 10,000 copies. Manufacturing costs are £0 (same as with all downloadable plug-ins), so it's likely the developer will be quids in.crumhorn wrote: 4.99 is a crazy price - how's a programmer supposed to make a living at that rate?
