Can you write MIDI clips for simultaneous instrument?
Hey, I divide my bass into around three instruments (sub/mid/high).
I'll start by writing a line for the mid, then copy and paste it to the others to produce a powerful tone.
However if I then want to tweak the line, I have to mute two of the tracks to program on one again, then copy and paste it into both.
Is there a way to write one MIDI clip that runs on all three; so I can tweak while it runs?
I hope that by grouping them I could make a MIDI clip on the grouped channel; but apparently not.
Any ideas? Would be a bonus to hear it's coming in Nine if not.

Either create a rack with all three instruments in it or have the instruments all get midi from the same midi track.

There's a benefit to having them on different tracks. If they're set to receive midi from another track and the monitor is on, it will receive the midi plus if there's a midi clip playing in it's own track it will play that also.
Might be handy if you want a little extra lead on the mid/high end.

I just loaded them into a rack and it looks pretty great..
Only problem is I remembered that I use them in different octaves!
Obviously the sub runs an octave lower, even though they're playing identical patterns on the same keys..
Any way around that..?!

Pitch MIDI Effect at the head of each chain in the rack as needed.

I generally tune the synths using the transpose or oscillator tuning.

You can set up ranges in the rack so that each instrument will only play specific notes.

this is what's great about Live! All this stuff is super easy to get done. I'd make a rack and use the pitch midi effect on each chain. Either way though, you have to solo/mute chains in order to tweak just that one layer.

Just pitch up/down each instrument in each of the chains.
No need for midi effects here.

Thanks guys, worked a treat!
I dropped a MIDI pitch adjuster on the instrument in question and now have all three instruments working perfectly in one Rack; on one channel; playing in unison through the keyboard.
It's one powerful tone; and I can favourite it to load easily next time - tweaking the programming much more easily!
