All clips turned white and won't output. What happened?

I see all my clips, but they have lost their color. I see their wave forms, and I see the playhead moving, but I'm getting no audio out on that channel or at the master. I've checked everything I can think of. Any thoughts?

Well, I'll answer my own question.

You idot, you need to have auto or out selected.
