I have Live 8 without M4L, and I've been following the 9 announcements, trying to figure out what the heck will be in this release in terms of video support. I'm not interested in VJ'ing or mashing up videos or any other sort of effects animation for live performance purposes. I simply wanted Live 9 to work better for scoring music for film/video, which it sucks at as of now. I'm guessing that this release will not address my issues, but if anyone has any insight into how this video functionality works, I'd love to know...
Thanks,

"Video support" in Live 9/M4L?

I have problems with W7 64 Bit, Live 8.x.x running video too. When getting a video from a customer I render the video from mp4 to Sörensen.mov
as the Sörensen codec is playing single frames like a film reel. Video is running better then, but not smooth. Ableton recommends Core AVC as a better codec then mp4.
mp4 is based on vector calculation (sorry for my bad english, don't know the right term).

Mr. Moneypenny,
Thanks for the response. I have wondered if the codec makes a difference in giving smoother playback, as I've been downsampling in both size and quality to do so. Have you found any way to work with different and changing tempos across a longer video? The problem that I have is that, if I change the tempo of one section using master track automation, that change throws later sections out of place within the video timeline; in other words, there's no way to lock events to markers within the video, which would allow independent movement of soundtrack sections. My only work around is to work with smaller sections of video as independent Live sets, which is less than ideal for many reasons. Any thoughts? I have a feeling that I may be moving to Cubase soon and using Live as a Rewired instrument when I need its sound...
Thanks,

I'm having the same problems with Live, but I don't know if this is working better within Cubase. I herad from a pro filmcomposer, that he is doing everything within one project, which is impossible in Live. I'm ginna try Cubase again in January, did already in March, but Live is way faster to use and C7 pretty buggy, following the steinberg forum...
