Live not controllable with Maschine MK2

Post by TechnoRage » Thu Dec 13, 2012 2:27 am

Hi,

It's probably something really simple I forgot. But everything between my Maschine MK2 and Live 8.3.1 seems configured correctly. However...it doesn't work yet.

I have the default Ableton Live template loaded in the Controller (which is in MIDI mode). In Ableton I selected Maschine as MIDI Control Surface, Input and Output. Also Track and Remote are set to on @ input and output (sync input and output are both set to off). I see signals coming in when pressing pads or turning knobs, via the blinking small square, also outgoing signals are sending.

Does anyone have a clue, because I do not...anymore... :-(

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Tom

This is the most current template?

Did you check out the manual they made for the Ableton template? I believe it is stashed away somewhere in the controller editor directory.

Using the template, you have to be sure to be in pad mode if you want to play notes. And, on the mk2 there is a way to change the octave of notes in that manual. I use MK I. I use a slightly different method. I'm not at my computer right now.

The latest Live template and MK2 (Maschine 10.8.2) work fine with Live 8 here...

(The input and output settings have been changed though, think it's now Maschine Input/Output)

A vast improvement on the earlier template too (Could do with some decent documentation by NI to get the best out of it).

Yes, same here. It works flawlessly (On Mac osx 10.6.8, Maschine 1.8.2 and Controller Editor 1.5.3, Maschine mk 1 controller).

With this latest update you have to change the input and output to "Maschine virtual input" and "Maschine virtual output". Otherwise it won't work. Also, check if you have the CORRECT midi remote script in your Ableton remote script folder.

It should work then!

if you installed the old template (MK1) before you have to remove/delete the old folder called "Maschine_Conroller" from your Live Midi Remote Scripts in order to make the new one work...

Hi, it's me again,

I tried everything, checked every version, but I'm still having the same problem...though I think it is more a MAC OSX / MIDI / USB problem...

I was thinking back when I just received my Numark 4TRAK DJ controller, many of the buttons did not work at all. The Helpdesk guy from Numark solved it with a USB/MIDI tool (MIDI Monitor) that kinda 'woke up' my system so it learned the new MIDI signals coming in via the USB port.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

:? :?:

Thx & regards, Tom

A couple of things:

1. I just started using Maschine two days ago, already have it set up and in use flawlessly (with the exception of my usual USB hub issues)

I had some trouble getting it set up at first but everything is fresh in my head so:

2. Can you (OP) show us some screen shots of your MIDI settings as well as Controller Editor settings

Here are the images, although I chose not to send the controller editor preferences, but the main screen.

Hope all makes sense to you :-)

Lets take this step by step.

It is confirmed that you can midi map any knob to a device in midi map mode? If that is working at least, then we go on to check the next step. (Confirming that the script is in the appropriate folder)
