good:

- a real better sounding sound engine !!!!! GREAT !!!
- crossfader!!
- fullscreen mode
- gate
- recording engine

bad:

- nearly the double amount of cpu usage!!!
- no support of older asd files...
- you cannot select a midcontroller to the new crossfader yet

??? more to come ??

cheers,
Matthias

I was afraid of this. If they can't get the CPU usage down for the release this will kill the Mac platform. I am praying its just the beta testing version. But it is hard to imagine adding all the features they want and not increasing the CPU load.

....well programs have been known to become much more efficient from one version to the next... the jump from Logic 4.0 to 4.5, 4.6 etc comes to mind ---- the PC versions of these got rid of the dreaded Disk Too Slow message (almost) entirely... due to a complete overhaul of the audio engine.

Don't despair Geraldo!

I wonder what platforms people are seeing the cpu usage jump on?

On OS X 10.2.2 I saw cpu usage on the same songs drop a small but significant amount, around 10%...

Heh, well you'll probably need to check ebay for my setup. '99 sawtooth 400mhz. 1.25 gigs of RAM, that might be the kicker...
