how to assign midi volume for external control

hi there,

how can i assign an external controller to the midi volume. is it possibly not possible with version 8 ?

there is no such thing as midi volume in live.

you can drop a velocity device on a midi channel and then assign a midi controller to velocity, thus control the velocity of midi notes that this channel sends to the pertaining instruments.

well .. i have to correct me .. it seems to work kinda fine on all high frequency instruments of my spectralis (thats the synth that is connected) like the hi-hats but it has almost no effect on the low frequency instruments. it just instantly cuts of from 1 to 0 .. but you can't tell the difference inbetween 127 and 1.

use the ext-instrument plug to route midi out to your synth and the audio back into live again. then you can control the audiovloume of your synth in live.

or just use the volume knob on your synth.
