Accidentals and Push

Post by Buleriachk » Wed Jan 30, 2013 8:15 pm

I wonder how Push will handle accidentals (other than the diatonic pattern); for example, Flamneco uses the relative major (C) and the harmonic minor (Am), in the same context as the E Phryian (in this case, the "tonic/final" is an E major chord (requiring a G#), whereas G natural is used in the standard "Andalusian Cadence"" Am -> G -> F -> E(7) (i.e., the E7 is the dominant chord for A harmonic minor).

From what I see, Push's "chord shapes" are all G7 or Am7, which might be ok for jazz, but not for real musicans, who want to know.....:-)

The problem with this is that in C Major I can play G7 -> C with no accidentals.
In the relative Minor, I need to play E7 -> Am

(Flamenco uses G when playing the G chord, and G# when playing the E chord, all referenced to E Phrygian mode as the base key. I don't see any way of instantaneously changing to E7 when that chord is necessary in performance.)

although it would take more practice to play well, there's always chromatic mode rather than in-key mode
