I have a few commercial midi files that I want to use as backing tracks for a guitar gig.
In the old days, I would have just opened up the files in a sequencer and played the midi files to the good ol soundblaster and recorded the output to an audio file, that I later burned to a CD.
Now that we're into soft synths, how would I go about this process? I tried last night to bring a MIDI file into live, and it imported as a seperate track for each instrument, which is fine, but do I now have to go and assign each instrument to a seperate instance of a Reason synth to get my sounds? I thought I'd found a shortcut by downloading a GS SFT for the Reason NX19, but it seems that will make me select only one patch at a time. Do I need a seperate instance of that synth for each track?
confused. any help appreciated.
