Thanks, will go through that tutorial later.
Seems like a really useful feature for me, I'm always turning the grid off to manually swing hi-hats/snares, and this just makes that process easier.

Re: Live 9's new note snapping/not snapping behaviour
Im not confused by the actual feature but its not an improvement for my workflow, personally I can't stand it.funken wrote:Personally I think it's great! Makes it easier and quicker to work one handed on that aspect of Live, and you are more likely to try off-grid stuff which has got to be more creative. If anyone is confused, see my tutorial. Ableton Live 9, tutorial 6 Midi editing
Any questions, comments?
I would counter the 'quicker one-handed' argument with the fact that if you want to move a note up or down and keep it snapped in time then you either have to be very careful and slow or move it across to the next grid line then back where you want it. You could use the cursor keys of course, but then its either switch my right hand from mouse to keyboard or move my left hand across.
Moving notes vertically along the same grid line is by far the most common operation I perform in the midi editor.
Just an option, one simple option. That's all I ask for.
