Hi All,
Does anybody have a solution not to record duplicate tracks in the arrangement view.
I use the session view to record loops in an inprov/live performance setting. To do so I have 3 tracks armed at all times so on each scene advance I have the opportunity to add up to said number of looping layers. I find this is the easiest way to concentrate on playing rather than arming (on|off) the cells individually. feeding those armed looping tracks is three audio bus input tracks that are also armed with active input from bass, drums, and voc. so I have a total of 6 armed tracks.
So while we are jamming and looping on 3 tracks I'm also recording *everything* in arrangement view by hitting the record button at the top. This gives me a total mix of the entire jam which I can refine the mix later. But as a result the 3 armed looping tracks are recording the active input 3 times. In this case it's the bass input. In arrangement view this is only superseded when I have a loop going on any of those 3 looping tracks.
While this all works it seems to be an inefficient use of processing and disk space. I read that live uses references to loops instead of actually recording loops in arrangement view. Is there a way to tell the arrangement view not to record a track even though it's armed. i.e. have different tracks armed in session view vs. arrangement view. I would like to find a way to only have only the referenced loops in the arrangement view and not have a duplicated audio from the input bus when there isn't a loop playing.
I hope I'm making sense here.. It's a long post I know.... sorry.
FYI, my Rig consists of a FCB1010, MBP, and a FP8.
thanks, -=lg3

Re: have different tracks armed in session view vs. arrangement
don't arm the 'Arrangemnt record' button... (?)
