PowerbookAlu, HammerfallDSPMultiface :Audio Drops/CPU load

Post by drscissors » Sat Apr 23, 2005 8:47 pm

Hi -

since yesterday i own a brand new Powerbook 1,5 GhZ/1GB RAM (120GB Firewire/400 atttached-> formatted in HFS+ out of Os 9.2.2)
After Installing OS X new, because of Partitioning the internal HDD and further installations of Logic Audio Pro, Live 4.1.2, updating the flash of the PC-Crad to Rev.12 Alupowerbook, plus Hammerfall DSP Driver 1.5, Midiinterface is the Emagic MT-4,
i would like to submit the following summary :

Logic is running fine, just no complaints.
Ableton's Live 4.1.2 acts strange.
before the security and 10.3.9 combined Us X update my Liveset of about 2 GB samples took about 6 minutes to load. Audio was spiced with lots of Dropouts. i tried different latencies, nothing helped.
After having updated to 10.3.9 loading the Liveset decreased to an acceptable 2min20sec and the overall performance of the programm itself was raised. Before the update, Live was showing weird jumps in CPU-Usage in conjunction w/audio dropouts, when getting from one scene to the next scene. sometimes saying 123%.
After the update, there are still these jumps coherently with the audio drops.
Another strange thing to me is:
once you toggled between two scenes, the programm seems to memorize the toggle and there are no more dropouts as heard before....
....well, i am kinda confused and will spend tomorrow in trying to find some rules for this starnge behaviour....

peace to the machines...

...well folks...a friend of mine told me the solution for my problem:

Don't mix 16bit and 24bit samples in one live-set !!!

...after having converted 2 GB of samples and letting run it to write the Annalyse Data in Live everything is as it should ne !!

happy ;)))))
