Push - cannot select a scene without launching it

Post by Panoramica » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:58 am

Hi,

I'm sure this used to work for me, but it doesn't anymore. I'm wondering if this broke in the 9.0.2 update?

From https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/push-editing-qa/:
Why there is a LCD at the top and no LCD on the side for Scene names? This implies that I need to look at the screen if i play live.
...
So, what we have instead is you hold select, and press a Scene to see that Scene's name show up temporarily on the display.
In 9.0.2 when I switch to Session view, then press and hold Select, and then select a scene via the Scene/Grid selection button, the scene always launches.

Earlier I found that holding the Scene/Grid selection button for a few seconds rather than 'punching' it allowed me to view the Scene name. Now it doesn't matter whether I hold or punch the Scene button, it still launches.

Edit: It also doesn't matter whether I am using the default 'Scene' or the alternate 'Clip' User Workflow.

Thanks,
Dan

Yes, same problem still on version 9.0.4 - I'll submit a ticket to technical support. If you do the same maybe they will fix it in the next update.

Should be fixed in the next update. Contacted support and this is what they replied:

Our developers are aware of it and are investigating a fix.

You can expect this to be available in the next update.

Hi Lemmike,

Thanks for following that up :)

In my earlier correspondence with Ableton support they said that it was fixed in 9.0.3. I tried it out in the (briefly available) 9.0.3 update and, when it wasn't there, I went back to them and their response was that they wanted to "double-check this issue with the developers. It isn't clear to [us] if Select + Scene is supposed to launch a Scene while displaying the name or just show the Scene name."

Cheers,
Dan
