Problems with a few keyboard shortcuts

Hi,

Firstly, i read the shortcut for recording is F9 - when i press 'FN 9' on my apple keyboard it changes the screen to see all application windows......I have the small apple keyboard without the numeric pad.

Secondly, i want to change the zoom in/out commands to 'apple <-' and 'apple ->' - so i went to system prefs, keyboard, application shortcuts, ableton 9 - typed in 'Zoom In' and entered my desired new command in the box, but when i go back to ableton it still doesn't zoom in or out???

I've tried a few different commands, such as FN + F1 etc and no matter what i try ableton just doesn't listen to them.

Any ideas or help on how to change this would be great,

for me its really important as not using shortcuts is really messing up my workflow...
I hope they will look into the matter FAST
